Hi All,

The previous email to the list about SDWG abstracts should have said that
the SDWG winter meeting will be the week of February 8 (not March 8).
Additional information about the schedule will follow once rooms have been

Dear Societal Dimensions Working Group members,

As previously announced, the winter SDWG meeting will be held the week of
February 8 (2016) along with meetings of other CESM working groups and
plenaries. The agenda will include short presentations based on submitted
abstracts and may also include solicited talks or organized discussions on
specific topics. If you would like to give a presentation, please send a
title and 200-500 word abstract by Friday, December 11, to Emily Laidlaw
(laidlaw at ucar.edu) with "SDWG ABSTRACT" in the subject line. Depending
on the number of submissions, we may also have a poster session. If you
have suggestions for agenda items or discussion topics, please send them
along as well.

A broad range of topics are of interest to the working group, generally
related to the use of CESM in studies of climate change impacts,
adaptation, and mitigation. Of key interest within these areas is the role
of CESM (and earth system and climate models in general). Specific topics
of interest include (but are not limited to) interactions between the
climate system and the use of energy, land, and water; emissions of air
pollutants and their consequences; socio-ecological impacts of climate
change; geoengineering; and ocean acidification. The working group also has
interest in diagnosis of CESM performance from an applications perspective,
with an eye toward model improvement.

Information on meeting registration and hotels will follow closer to the
meeting date.

We look forward to an interesting and productive meeting,

Emily (on behalf of SDWG co-chairs Lawrence Buja, Kate Calvin, Bill
Gutowski, and Brian O'Neill)
