[CF-metadata] CF compatibility with NetCDF version 2.4?

Dear all,

Is the CF convention compatible with version 2.4 of NetCDF? Some colleagues
are using NetCDF 2.4 with IDL and they wish to write CF-compliant files. Are
there any potential problems?

I would assume not from the CF documentation.
