Dear Karl If we call omega the Lagrangian tendency of air pressure, would it not be consistent to call sigma-dot the Lagrangian tendency of atmosphere sigma coordinate? Similarly other XXXX-dot quantities are Lagrangian tendencies. Cheers Jonathan
