From andrew at ucar.edu Wed Jan 25 13:53:59 2006 From: andrew at ucar.edu (Andrew Gettelman) Date: Wed Jan 25 13:53:54 2006 Subject: [Microphysics] CAM Microphysics Update Message-ID: <4CACDDCE-934A-49D6-8E44-EF3662B9D271@ucar.edu> Dear Microphysics Group, This email contains (1) update on current status and (2) future plans, starting with the March, 2006 AMWG meeting. Current documents and copies of the finalized 'Roadmap' are on the microphysics group website: http://www.cgd.ucar.edu/cms/meetings/microphys/ (1) Current status Hugh Morrison (NCAR) has been actively engaged in rewriting his moment based microphysics scheme for CAM, assisted by Rich Neale, Phil Rasch and myself. This has raised a number of interesting issues which may apply generally for detailed microphysics schemes. We still hope to have at least some initial runs with a column model, and some idea of performance and timing, in the next few weeks. We hope to have a further update in advance of the March Atmospheric Model Working Group (AMWG) meeting, or at the latest during the AMWG meeting in March (see below). (2) Upcoming meetings: Wednesday AM, March 22, 2006, NCAR We will have a short (probably about 2 hour) session on microphysics during the joint atmospheric model and chemistry-climate working group meetings. This will be Wednesday morning, March 22, 2006 at NCAR. We will review progress, and plans, and interact with the larger Community Atmosphere Model (CAM) and Community Climate System Model (CCSM) communities. We especially encourage all the local (Boulder) participants in the microphysics group to join us. Please mark it on your calendars. More details will be forthcoming. We also expect Microphysics to be a topics of discussion at the CCSM annual meeting in Breckenridge (20-22 June, 2006).
