Mixed Layer Ocean Response to Geostrophic Ocean Heat Transport Variations along the Kuroshio Current Extension" ABSTRACT: The winter response of the coupled atmosphere-ocean mixed layer system to anomalous geostrophic ocean heat flux convergence (OHFC) in the Kuroshio Extension is investigated by means of experiments with an atmospheric general circulation model coupled to an entraining ocean mixed layer model. The atmospheric response is compared to that obtained using the stand-alone atmospheric model where the anomalous SST associated with the anomalous OHFC is prescribed. Lisa Butler will be providing administrative support and Julie Caron and Christina Book will be our respective backups. Please contact me if you, or a visitor that you are hosting, are interested in giving a seminar. The standard day and time for the CGD Seminar will be Tuesday at 3:30 PM, however this can be adjusted to accommodate visiting speakers that are not otherwise available.
